Did you know that 39% of the books banned in schools contain LGBTQ+ characters and people?
Where some hope to erase, we want to celebrate! Every kid deserves to see themselves in a book! So this year, we're partnering with Spark Books to hold a Banned Book Drive and Swap.
How do I participate?
Gather your fave books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters (up to five) to bring with you on June 29th and swap for your next great read. We'll have tables for kids, young adults, and adults, so you can find a new favorite to take home! Any books remaining at the end of the event will be donated to teachers, schools, and organizations serving LGBTQIA+ youth.
Help us fill the tables with new books while supporting Pride in the Park:
Purchase a book to donate from Spark Books online book drive, and we'll bring it to the swap for you. 20% of all sales will be donated back to Pride in the Park.
