We're with the banned.
Did you know that 39% of the books banned in schools contain LGBTQ+ characters and people?
Where some hope to erase, we want to celebrate! Every kid deserves to see themselves in a book! So this year, we're partnering with Spark Books to hold a Banned Book Drive and Swap.
How do I participate?
Bring a book from home (used or new) and take it to Pride in the Park on June 29th. We'll have tables for kids, young adults, and adults, so you can find a new favorite to take home! Any books remaining at the end of the event will be donated to teachers, schools, and organizations serving LGBTQIA+ youth.
Want to donate new books to fill the tables:
Purchase a book to donate from Spark Books online book drive, and we'll bring it to the swap for you. 20% of all sales will be donated back to Pride in the Park.
